The day of love, romance, and little pink hearts is just around the corner, and – trust us – Cupid isn’t the only one capable of boosting business in February. Read on for easy Valentine’s Day marketing strategies that’ll have your clients falling head over heels for your services!
Go with the twosome theme.
Love it or hate it, Valentine’s Day is the day of two. That’s why we recommend running a 2-for-1 deal, offering, for example, two travel-sized products for the price of one, for clients who book a service in February.
Help clients prep for love.
Plenty of guests will be hitting the town on Valentine’s Day, which falls on a Wednesday this year, and on the weekends before and after the 14th, too. Help them get primped for the night by offering a discount on day-of services, such as blowouts and makeup application. Want to make the experience extra special? Pour a little wine or bubbly for clients to enjoy while you work your magic.
Keep it simple.
You just packed up all the Christmas decorations, right? There’s no need to go crazy with lovey-dovey décor. Setting a Valentine’s vibe can be as simple as putting out a dish of multi-colored conversation hearts, filling a vase with beautiful red roses, and/or adding a bright pink lipstick or nail polish to your display shelf. If you absolutely have to do more, we also love the idea of a simple red wreath hung on the door, or a cute themed throw pillow for your chair.
Make a gift box.
Forget that ubiquitous box of V-Day chocolates. Give your guests a more inspiring gift option, by putting together a unique package featuring pint-sized versions of the products you love. Don’t forget to gussy up the gift box or bag with some red and pink ribbon. Guests can purchase your hand-selected product picks for a loved one, or for themselves, because self-indulgence is also important.
Write a love note.
Grab some pink stationary, and handwrite short notes for your most loyal clients, letting them know what you love about having them in your salon. Make sure to mail your letters at least one week before Valentine’s Day, so they arrive in time. In an age of emailed impermanence, we guarantee your clients will appreciate this heartfelt gesture.
Promote the colors of the season.
Relish Cupid’s favorite colors by running a highlight promo geared toward clients who are interested in adding spunky hues, be it bold red highlights or an all-over millennial pink. We’re also digging jewel tone balayage tresses, smoky amethyst roots, and Geode Hair, with an amethyst-to-navy ombré. Fantasy colors are still on trend in 2018, too, so consider providing a special offer on color services if one of the colors used is red or pink.
Host a “Galentine’s Day” event.
If your clientele is predominantly female, set aside time to celebrate the lasting bond of feminine friendship. Pick a night a few days before or after the 14th, and throw a “ladies only” happy hour with sparkling wine, sweet treats, demonstrations, and maybe even a few express services.
Share the love on social media.
It’s easy to get your clients to help generate buzz around your biz. For V-Day, ask them to share their stories of love, romance, and friendship on Facebook or Twitter, using a hashtag you’ve created for the occasion. Or, for a counter-culture twist, have participants share their “worst date” and “worst breakup” stories instead! Make sure to offer up a prize – a service or product discount, perhaps – for the client with the best (or worst) story.
Put your heart into it.
Show clients your loving side by partnering with your favorite local charity for a Valentine’s Day drive. Set up a box, and collect canned goods, coats, or mittens for a shelter. Or, collect cash donations for a heart-themed charity like your local chapter of the American Heart Association. Don’t forget about the Susan G. Komen Foundation; there’s an important mission behind those pink ribbons.
You can’t love others until you truly learn to love yourself! Encourage salon guests to engage in some self-love this season, by offering a sale on one or more “pamper” services, which might include an invigorating scalp massage or a deep conditioning treatment.
And through the season of love, remember that at Sola, you're never alone 💖
