About Denise Roza
Denise was born in Brooklyn, NY; she attended vocational school in Newburgh, NY which launched her career in cosmetology. At the tender age of 17, Denise knew she wanted to be a platform artist. While a student, Denise was already becoming a twinkle within the cosmetology profession. She received her first award in the New York City International Beauty Show at the age of 18! No longer a “diamond in the rough”, Denise is now a gem within the Cosmetology community.
In 1992, Denise’s mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. This sparked Denise’s interest in becoming a volunteer with the American Cancer Society. She became a tireless volunteer as a stylist in the “Look Good Feel Better” program teaching women how to deal with the side effects of cancer treatment. Denise received the ACS’ Rookie of the Year Award, the Sunrise Award, and received awards at the state level in PA followed by awards at the National and Divisional level as well. She was voted “Hometown Hero” four times by the local news in Harrisburg PA, for her work on wig collection for women going through cancer treatment.
In 2008, Denise was given the opportunity to try out as a Platform Artist with Farouk International. She realized her lifelong dream, having been chosen to be on the Platform Artist Team! Presently, she has also been promoted as a Regional Educator for Farouk as well.
After being employed with JCPenney Co. Styling Salons for 19 years, Denise is now the proud and humbled owner of her own salon entitled Embrace Hair Studio! It’s located in Glen Allen, Virginia, just west of the capital city of Richmond.
Throughout this period of time, Denise has also been styling hair, locally, on various off Broadway national touring shows such as The Rockettes, The Color Purple, Mama Mia, Sesame Street, Dora the Explorer, and Hairspray, to name just a few.
Denise has been able to share her dreams, and accomplishments, with the love of her life of five years, Bob Roza, and her three adult children.
