Devil Make Hair

About Shandra Montoya
I knew from the age of eight that I wanted to be a hairstylist. Hair just came to me naturally. I’ve always had a creative eye. I can remember cutting and coloring my friend’s hair in middle school and giving bang trims to other students in the school bathroom. As I grew older, my friends and family strongly encouraged me to peruse a career in the hair industry and I couldn’t wait to get started! So, at the age of 16 I started beauty school through the Clark County Skill Center program. Shortly after high school I completed beauty school and started working immediately. I have been in the industry for almost 12 years. Being a hairstylist is the only job I’ve ever had and I absolutely love it! I am a great listener and never want to stop learning. I think that has carried me far in this industry. I want to make sure every client of mine feels heard, respected and walks out with not only what they were looking for, but some easy tips to recreate their new look. During my career, I’ve had the pleasure of working in some of the top salons in Vancouver. Which is how I met my best friend, Alexa. Four years ago, we were fortunate enough to be able to open up our own studio. And if that wasn’t cool enough, last year we were awarded 2nd place Best of Clark County! I couldn’t be more thankful for her and all of my clients. When I’m not at work, I enjoy thrifting vintage clothing, watching hair tutorials, researching recipes on pinterest or posting pictures of my silly dog to Instagram. I’m obsessed with music and movies. I love camping, beach trips, spending time with my family and friends, finding fun places to eat in Portland, and going to concerts.
