She always knew that she belonged in the beauty industry from a young age. In high school, she remembers her friends coming over for her to do their hair and makeup before school. Laurie’s Chair is located inside Sola Salons in Woodbury Lakes. She offers razor and scissor cutting, expertise in color formulation with your skin tone, makeup artistry and styling hair for your wedding day and hair extensions. Laurie enjoys creating an overall lifestyle for her clients, consulting with you to determine what would look best with your face shape, your life style , your career, and your personality! She loves to help people improve their appearance while keeping up with all the latest beauty trends and educating them on how to use the correct products to take care of their hair at home. What is unique about Laurie’s Chair, is that she is a very open and honest person. Her personality gets along with all types of people and she is a good listener. She values the long term relationships that are created when a client sits in her chair. She is a self-described “people person”. Laurie went from owning a large salon to chair rental. But chair rental limited Laurie’s freedom, as the salon owner had full control of decisions including selling retail. Moving into her own studio at Sola has provided Laurie with the freedom and flexibility that she enjoyed as a salon owner in the past! She is able to do what she chooses for her career, including selling her own retail ($$!), decorating her studio to create a relaxing environment for her clients, and working the hours that she wants. Basically, it is the best of both worlds…she enjoys the independence that she loved as a salon owner and missed as a chair renter but doesn’t have to worry about all the stressful aspects of salon ownership that were not fun, like managing employees, paying for maintenance/repairs, and dealing with leases and landlords.
