Always an artist since childhood Katy grew up to want to use her eye for her favorite palette to work on…people.She studied at the prestigious Aveda Institute in Soho,NY.Mere weeks upon graduating she was recruited by The Marie Robinson Salon where she studied color under celebrity colorists Marie Robinson and Bryan Thompson-DiPalma.It was here where she worked closely with them hands on with such clients as Bette Midler,Tory Burch,Mary Louise-Parker,and Joan Allen to name a few.From there she became the head colorist for Lasio Studios.Not only did she become an expert in their keratin,but revamped their color bar.She has been a color educator,and is certified in curly hair cutting.She also has done makeup for Vena Cava for several years of their books,and had her work in WWD with the designers.In the September 2012 issue of Vogue Katy’s work was shown on designer Lisa Mayock’s hair whose wedding was featured that month. Katy Ryan Studios came about when Katy wanted to create a space that was comfortable,down-to-earth,and personal for her clients.She found this in the form of NYC’s beauty complex Sola Salons.Situated in Murray Hill it is the perfect one-stop-shop for all of her client’s needs,and also gives each client time in her studio for complete and private one-on-one attention.This has created an environment with a great vibe to go with some great hair.
